Chelsea 1996: Sponsored by Cartier & Harpers & Queen Magazine, the garden was a tribute to the walled garden spaces of Sissinghurst Castle and it’s creator Vita Sackville-West. Award: Gold Medal & “Best of Show” Contractor: Clifton Nurseries Ltd Image: reclaimed tudor bricks and paving were used for high garden walls and paving To contrast with the walls & paving, a contemporary bronze water sculpture was located within a planted border. A reclaimed “indented” grass & yorkstone pathway; leads to a Lutyens style timber bench (kindly borrowed from Hatfield House, Herts)
