Private Estate, Vignola
In 1996, Watson & Walker were commissioned to develop an extensive landscape masterplan around a large
traditional Modenese farmhouse; extending into adjacent/redundant Cherry orchards, the proposals included large scale formal gardens & parkland. By 2002, much of the project was built and planted. Sadly, the estate were seized by the Italian government in 2012 as part of a multi-euro EU corruption scandal. Consequently, the estate was left abandoned and neglected for a number years, until new ownership in 2019.
Our masterplan included large formal gardens including Box parterres, new double-driveways & parkland.
The layout included large sunken formal garden (now derelict)
The abandoned & empty swimming pool
Many valuable antiquities, chosen by our client were located within the gardens
Antique stone pool & gargoyles.
Overgrown entrance area & parkland
The lake & timber gazebo becomes almost invisible with Water Lillies!
Newly planted mature Olives and Pomegranates left unattended
Mature Rhododendrons continue to flower!
